Aloha, E Komo Mai (Welcome!) This is the home page and official web site for the Kula Kai View Estates Community Association. Kula Kai is a gated community with about 150 three-acre lots, located on the makai side of Highway 11, one mile west of Ocean View, on the Big Island in the state of Hawaii. The Association has Officers and Board members who meet regularly and welcome input from community members. The Secretary keeps minutes of the meeting and the Treasurer posts reports. The Association runs on bylaws and has a set of covenants. Sad news (from Larry and Janet Hayes): Our good Friend and Neighbor Carol Simms passed away on June 2nd after a long illness. Carol loved working with the board of directors to make our subdivision a much better place to live for all of us. She spent her life caring for people and animals all over the country. If you had a sick pet, call Carol and she would be at your door step ready to help in anyway she could. Many times she would show up with a large steak just for the dog to eat. I remember one time she sat on our kitchen floor for hours rubbing our older dying Golden untill she fell asleep. Each time she would be there to help, not only made the animal feel better, but eased the pain to us as well. She had such a great loving way about her....she always wanted to be of help. I remember another time when several of us men were working on one of the side roads, she couldn't be there to help, but her car pulls up and she jumps out with a cooler full of drinks...and she kept going on about the great job we were doing. She was always there to pat you on the back or hug you neck if needed. Carol was so concerned about others health and helping them feel better. We loved talking with Carol about the interesting times in her life. She had two grown boys: one lives in the Islands and the other on the Mainland. I feel my life is more complete just having known Carol....she will be missed. Latest news: The contract was for recent road work was fulfilled by Tripple K trucking and Equipment Co.
