The new tractor has been working good ,Rex Brumley and I have been mowing-he does top and I do the bottom of subdivision ,mostly the main road and side ones as needed-usually 1 pass down each side and it mows about 3-4 ft
Larry Hayes got on it recently and did 2 passes on the WHOLE subdivision, yea Larry !!!
I'm still looking for a sickle mower for the tractor-then we could just do 1 pass and keep the tractor on the asphalt and not have to worry about hitting rocks and we would also stop putting debris on the road.
Speaking of asphalt some of our side roads need work pretty bad and some the older sections of the main road have developed cracks that should probably be sealed up and all this road repair cost is just going to keep going up. So I think we are going to have to raise dues just when everybody's money is tight-What do you people think? -its your money but I hope to keep improving all the roads in the subdivision and maintain what we have now so it doesn't fall into disrepair Maybe raise the dues 20 bucks -- 10 dollars this year and 10 next-Let me know what you think ? --gwk5371@aol.com
The gate is also in need of some maintenance The concrete base that the gate motor sits on has moved and is now not level ( from the gate being rammed several times) The bolts that hold the motor on the concrete need replacing (a couple broke-- same reason ) the arm that goes from the gate to the motor has bent a large shaft from the motor gear box where the arm connects and Arlene Meyer is checking on that ( got bent for the same reason ) I propose we repair all and put a shear pin in the arm so this hopefully will not ever happen again ( if someone hits the gate the pin breaks and we just install a new pin )
The container still needs work ( Paint and phone and electric- etc. ) Rod Frost has volunteered to finish the electric work that Rick Elhard started ,I will be helping Rod and at that time I will install the phone line so we can finally install the new gate system we bought a couple years ago and then everyone can have a clicker!! and our security will be much improved when we can track our gate use and monitor with the computer we have to record from our video camera
Christmas time ! - Christmas berry-I have observed if you cut them off they only seem to come back thicker I think we need to kill them somehow or its just a recurring problem (every one I have cut is now coming back (^$%$%$@ things!) It would be nice if everyone swept off the rocks on the road and pulled the larger weeds in front of there property ( the rocks are hard on our asphalt )
I want to thank everyone for pitching in to help around this beautiful place we live may we all have a happy and healthy new year !
And now for my call me crazy thought-what if we put a large water tank at the top and just run waterlines to all 150 lots and nobody would have to buy a water tank -anybody else have any thoughts on this ? (or am I just crazy)
